Unit ND1: Managing health and safety
1. You will be able to source, develop, evaluate and interpret relevant health and safety information(such as legislation, guidance, best practice, procedures) and communicate it effectively to those who need it (both within your organisation and those affected by your organisation’s activities such as contractors and insurers).

The Exam Process
The exam and possible sitting fees are not included in the course fee, they are typically paid when you are ready to book your exams.
The NEBOSH National Diploma is separated into 3 Units and is assessed by three open book assessments:
Unit ND1: Assignment of four parts covering simulations, workplace-based activities, reflective tasks and a research project. This paper has an approximately 60 hours assessment time.
Unit ND2: Case Study – Scenario-based, simulation only assessment with an approximately 40 hours assessment time.
Unit ND3: Case Study – Scenario-based, simulation only assessment with an approximately 40 hours assessment time.
Each assessment is a substantial undertaking. The time-period given for you to complete each assessment reflects this:
Unit DN1: 4 weeks (20 working days)
Unit DN2: 2 weeks (10 working days)
Unit DN3: 2weeks (10 working days)
The exam fees are not included in the course fee, they are typically paid when you are ready to book your exams. Exam Fees are £508 which covers the entire exam process.
Learning objectives
The qualification deliberately looks at general workplace issues so that this can be applied in the many different sectors in which health and safety professionals may work.

Entry requirements
Using the NEBOSH National general certificate as its foundation, this course uses UK legislation and International Occupational Standards to help you to gain an expert understanding of health and safety across a variety of industries. Thus, the NEBOSH National Diploma is a natural progression for International General Certificate holders and other NEBOSH online course graduates to further their careers.
Course assessment and certification
To achieve the NEBOSH National Diploma for Occupational Health & Safety Management Professionals, students must pass all three assessments and there is a notional pass mark for each paper of 50%.
To achieve the minimum pass grade the percentage grade for each unit are added together and the grading boundaries are as follows:
- 0 – 149 marks: Refer
- 150 – 195 marks: Pass
- 196 – 225 marks: Credit
- 226 marks and above: Distinction
The Marking
As with other NEBOSH qualifications, the National diploma exams are assessed and marked by NEBOSH and their examiners. Once you have completed your exam papers, all the exams are then sealed and sent back to NEBOSH, for rigorous marking, checking and results determination process to ensure maximum accuracy and consistency.
You will receive your results 50 working days after the submission date for your assessment. A unit certificate will be issued 20 working days after the notification date for each successful unit.
A qualification parchment will be issued 20 working days after the results notification date for the third successful unit.
