On completion of this course you will:
- Understand what the Mental Capacity Act is how it impacted the area of mental health and decision making capacity
- Explain what a capacity assessment is and how to carry one out
- Understand what constitutes a ‘reasonable belief’ when making a best interest decision
- Explain what to do when a best interest decision is challenged
- Understand the ways in which individuals can be supported to make decisions
- Explain what a best interest decision is and the important factors to consider
- Understand that Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) are and how the protect vulnerable individuals
- Understand how to apply for a Deprivation of Liberty standard authorisation
This course takes approximately 60 minutes.
