This ACT e-learning course for the IOSH Working Safely (WS) is an essential course for workers, whether employees or contractors, to raise awareness and understanding of general workplace hazards and controls. It focuses on why health and safety is important, and how individuals can make a real difference to the wellbeing of themselves and others through changing their behaviour to minimising risk.

The course includes all the learning materials you will need for the exams. The course is available online and involves a minimum of 7 hours of study, which can be done in a flexible way to suit your availability to study during the course. We will agree a learning plan that will take you to an assessment date. It also includes mock assessments, to prepare you for the final assessment.

Employers can train multiple students and monitor their progress throughout the course.

This online course is designed to guide you through your study. Study is broken into learning parts that have exercises and tasks to consolidate learning. Progress is tracked in the personal history file. The e-learning course provides you with an opportunity to apply your knowledge to IOSH style assessment questions to refine understanding and prepare for the end of course assessment.

Each element includes:

  • Active time management – Tracks and records study time within the materials, exercises and assessments. Coupled with the study schedule helps students manage their time and achieve their targets.
  • Learning outcomes – An overview of the element and what is expected to be learnt.

  • Risk assessment – Tests your ability to conduct the fives stages of a risk assessment. The exercise includes: identifying hazardous locations, equipment and substances and activities and determining the risks, controls and any monitoring required
  • Workplace inspection – Requires you to identify the potential hazards and risks within a workplace and decide on control measures to reduce the risk.

  • Study schedule – a plan that includes step by step instructions, an interactive time table and assessment preparation.
  • Personal history – Tracks all exercises and study time broken down by element.
  • Student notes – Create and print notes with full formatting options.
