Course Topics
Adults with Incapacity Scotland
The course is designed to raise awareness of the definitions of mental illnesses and incapacity and to enable participants to explore the impact that incapacity can have on the individual concerned, why these impacts are present and what approaches could be utilised to minimise or remove them.
Challenging Behaviour Scotland
Designed for anyone working in the care sector to ensure that they understand how to identify and diffuse difficult and threatening situations involving aggression, intimidation and many other types of challenging behaviour. The course also teaches delegates how to identify the factors that might trigger challenging behaviour as well as how to manage challenging situations using simple intervention techniques.
Domestic Abuse Awareness Scotland
This course has been designed to help you to understand the subject and to support people you are working with who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse. It will equip learners with the tools to be able to recognise abuse, instigate and work within recommended processes and to understand the legislative and organisational frameworks that relate to their working environment.
Duty of Care Scotland
The aim of this course is to give the learner an understanding of their own duty of care in the workplace. By the end, learners will be able to understand how their duty of care contributes to safe practice in the health and social care sector, the dilemmas they may face in the workplace, and how to resolve these dilemmas, possibly with additional support and advice.
Equality and Diversity Scotland
Mapped to Qualification and Credit Framework unit SHC023 as taken from the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. This course is about value based working. It is intended to support the promotion of self-awareness in relation to equality and diversity issues. It has also been designed to introduce the concept of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Fire Prevention and Awareness
This course has been mapped to the learning outcomes of the QCF unit HSC 2019. It has been designed to help you collect the evidence you require to demonstrate that you meet the requirements to operate safely within your organisation. It goes through the law, the theory of fire with the various types of fire extinguishers and how best to prevent a fire.
Health and Safety Awareness Scotland
This course has been designed to help you collect the evidence required to demonstrate an understanding of Health and Safety and ensure you know the responsibilities you have in regards to Health and Safety. This course covers manual handling, COSHH, fire safety and stress management.
This course is mapped to the learning outcomes of the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) units: HSC027; HSC037; HSC2028; MH203. It is also mapped to the National Occupational Standards: CHS2; CHS6; SCDHSC0022; SCDHSC0223; SCDHSC0032.
Person-Centred Support Scotland
This person-centred support course has been designed to help you to understand the subject and to support people you are working with. This course is designed to promote a person-centred approach to how learners work and to ensure that the person being supported has as much control as possible over the way they live and the care/support they receive. It will equip learners with the tools to be able to work within recommended processes and to understand the legislative and organisational frameworks that relate to their working environment.
Safeguarding Children and Young People Scotland
To provide the building blocks of knowledge which equip and underpin the working practices of all those involved in safeguarding children and young people at risk, across a multi-agency spectrum. Safeguarding is everyone’s business and all care groups involved in safeguarding must be able to recognise abuse and neglect and know how to make effective referrals.
To gain a clear understanding of how to identify and report potential abuse and be able to recognise those that are particularly vulnerable to abuse. This course has been developed specifically for frontline support and housing care to increase the practitioner’s skills and knowledge of the safeguarding processes, relating to vulnerable children and young people.

Course Structure and Functionality
This course has been designed in a non-linear and modular fashion which means you may complete the units in any order you wish.
You progress will be tracked so don’t worry if you have to dip in and out. There will be a knowledge check at the end which will become available once you have completed all of the prescribed units.
The course also contains the following content functionality to help the learner become immersed and to reinforce their learning:
