Asbestos Awareness - RoSPA Approved

Price is per online user of this course.  Applicable VAT will be added.

Under The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, employers must provide anyone who is likely to work on or disturb asbestos materials with information regarding their location, condition and correct safety practices when working with asbestos materials.

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), asbestos is the single biggest cause of work related deaths in the UK.  Due to the health risks associated with asbestos, it is now illegal to use these materials in the construction or refurbishment of any premises but a significant amount of asbestos materials are still in place in commercial, industrial, public and residential buildings.

This Asbestos Awareness online course provides an introduction to these risks and how to avoid them.

This training is an Essential Skillz RoSPA approved course.

There are three levels of asbestos training;

Category A – Asbestos Awareness

Asbestos courses are for those who are liable to be exposed to asbestos in the course of their work.  These staff are required to avoid any work that may disturb asbestos containing materials (ACMs).  This training provides an understanding of the dangers and what to do if they suspect asbestos is present.

Category B – Non-licensable work with asbestos

Asbestos courses are for those who knowingly disturb asbestos.  This is also referred to as non-licensable asbestos work or minor works. Staff requiring this type of training is everyone who knowingly disturb ACMs for example, carpenters, electricians and demolition workers.  This training provides an understanding of what work can be done and how it can be done safely.

Category C – Licensable work with asbestos

Asbestos courses are for those who remove asbestos.  This is also referred to a licensable asbestos work.

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) recognise online learning as a viable delivery method for asbestos awareness training providing the training meets the requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR12).

Yes, all employers must ensure that those who need to avoid disturbing asbestos, and supervisors who manage those that need to avoid disturbing asbestos, are given asbestos awareness training.

Employers are required to provide a higher level of training in addition to asbestos awareness training for those who disturb asbestos. The level of training will depend on the work involved. This training is not offered as online learning.
