A new report The People at Work 2024: A Global Workforce View1, that surveyed over 34,600 workers in 18 countries, has found that about 50% of employees believe that their employer is sufficiently investing in their skills to enable them to advance their careers, compared with about 39% in the UK.
Other key global findings are:
1. 25% of workers are doing more than one job
2. Workers are supported with their mental health by their colleagues rather than their managers. 75% of 18 to 24 year old’s say they suffer from stress, which impacts their work
3. 20% of workers think that artificial intelligence, AI, will save them time in their work and 28% think that AI will replace some of their work functions.
4. Workers are working 6 to 10 hours per week for free
In the last 12 months I have written a lot about the impact of AI’s increasing role in learning and development, and it features in this extensive global survey. Almost 50% of workers believe that they will be required to have skills in technology advancements, such as AI, in the future. 21% of workers are concerned that AI will replace most of their job functions.
