Description
In addition to general safety legislation the UK also has the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (C.O.S.H.H ) regulations along with the Manual Handling Regulations.
This online course is primarily designed as a refresher rather than full training and we would strongly advise undertaking the separate modules Safe Lifting, Carrying and Moving in Hospitality (UK Manual Handling regulations) as these will provide extra depth and information
This course explores firstly; the importance of handling cleaning and chemical products safely including identifying warning symbols and guidance on safe use and using warning signs. Topics include personal protective equipment (PPE), the safe handling of blood and human waste, including the sharps procedure. We also look at how of data sheets and risk assessments are used in an emergency and look at initial emergency actions to take in the event of an accident. The course then develops to Manual Handling techniques and differentiates between acute and cumulative injuries and recognising responsibilities in the workplace. The techniques of lifting and carrying techniques are addressed, including team lifts, as well as the importance of safe pushing and pulling practices. Posture awareness, the risks associated with stretching and twisting, safe use of steps, and secure item storage are also covered. The course refers to identifying RSI and reporting accidents.
