Teaching and learning is by a combination of directed study and set tasks; examinations are not required to achieve this qualification. Candidates can enrol at any time and work through the programme at their own pace.
All units, with the exception of Managing Dimensional Control on Sites can be studied online. Managing Dimensional Control on Sites incorporates a practical aspect which necessitates a two day workshop when an assignment is undertaken. The workshop can be arranged in your workplace, with photographic evidence being supplied to your tutor, however, this must be signed off by someone at work who is a member of the CIOB. Alternatively you may be able to attend a two day residential workshop at the trainer’s premises. The cost of the assignment and arranging the residential or workplace workshop is £390.00 plus VAT. (£195.00 for assignment work & £195.00 workshop) Accommodation and subsistence costs are not included in the cost.
CSCS Black Management Card
Successful completion of the Level 4 Certificate or Diploma in Site Management and the relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test enables candidates to apply for the CSCS Black management card. To apply for the Black Card the CITB test must have been achieved within the last two years. The test can therefore be taken before or after achieving a CIOB Level 4 Site Management qualifications and costs £19.50. Candidates should have a CV that shows that they have two years’ experience on a construction site with some general management responsibility.
Candidates wishing to obtain the CIOB qualification will be required to submit their CV to confirm their suitability and a one off additional fee of £100.00 for CIOB registration covering the complete programme of all units. This will be requested by CIOB at the beginning of the course.

Whether on the Certificate or Diploma all candidates are required to complete the unit on Managing Health, Safety, Welfare and Risk Control at Work unless they hold the SMSTS which can be used as an exemption. So for the Certificate candidates have to achieve this unit plus 3 further units.
Level 4 Certificate in Site Management (4 units) £820 + applicable VAT
In order to obtain the Level 4 Certificate in Site Management the candidate must complete 4 units, to include the mandatory Unit 4, within 12 months and each unit must be completed within 3 months:

- Unit 4 – Managing Health, Safety, Welfare and Risk Control within a Construction Site

- Unit 6 – Developing and Managing Self and Construction Personnel
- Unit 7 – Improving Managerial Skills within a Construction Environment
- Unit 8 – Contractual and Legal Responsibilities within a Construction Environment
- Unit 9 – Estimating and Measuring Work within a Construction Environment
- Unit 10 – Managing Sub-Contractors within a Construction Environment
- Unit 11 – Managing Building Services within a Construction Environment
- Unit 12 – Managing the Technology of Modern Construction

Level 4 Diploma in Site Management £1640.00 (8 units) + applicable VAT
In order to obtain the Level 4 Diploma in Site Management the candidate must complete 8 units within 24 months from the above list in addition to the 4 units achieved for the Certificate. Each unit must be completed in 3 months.
Candidates may go straight on to the Diploma, rather than complete the Certificate, and will then need to complete 12 units, which includes Unit 4.
