Yes, all employers must ensure that those who need to avoid disturbing asbestos, and supervisors who manage those that need to avoid disturbing asbestos, are given asbestos awareness training.

HSE recognises the use of e-learning as a viable delivery method for asbestos awareness training, provided it satisfies the requirements of Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and the supporting Approved Code of Practice L143 ‘Managing and working with asbestos’

Employers are required to provide a higher level of information, instruction and training, in addition to asbestos awareness training for those who will be disturbing asbestos. The level of training will depend on the work involved and could be non-licensed; notifiable non-licensed work (NNLW); or licensed work. This training is not offered as e-learning.
