All staff require basic health and safety training, as above, however more specific training, e.g. working at height, should be decided upon by assessing the risks of a job and deciding if the risks can be controlled by providing training.

The employer and contractor have responsibilities under health and safety law. The employer must ensure that contractors and the self-employed have the required knowledge of health and safety law and the company’s health and safety policy so that they work safely.
